Director Guy Ritchie Leaves 'Lobo' To Fast Track 'Sherlock Holmes 2'

 In  Directors, Sequels

I the long shadow cast by "Avatar" over the box office the last month or so, the Guy Ritchie directed "Sherlock Holmes" has quietly gone on to make nearly $400 million dollars world wide.  Therefore it's no surprise that the studio would like a sequel to the film... and one probably sooner rather than later.

There has been a rather large obstacle in the way. Ritchie has been set to direct the DC comic book adaptation of "Lobo", an intergalactic alien bounty hunter with a less than pleasant attitude.

But now, Hollywood mega producer Joel Silver (who also happens to be a producer on both "Lobo" and "Sherkock", is claiming that Ritchie is walking away from the comic movie to focus his attention on getting "Sherlock Holmes 2" together as soon as possible.

So could this mean a 2011 release for a Sherlock sequel is within the realm of possibility?

It will be cool to see a second one! Do you think they can make it as successful as the first?

It looks like Robert Downey Jr. is going to have his hands full for the next little while!

You know, it's not good sometimes that the K is right next to the L on the keyboard. You spelled "Sherkock" instead of "Sherlock" lol.

Maybe it was intentional? "SherKOCK" should be "Sherlock"

I would like to see a sequel based on the all-time favorite holmes adventure "The Hound Of The Baskervilles". This time however, using the true supernatural aspects of the story. Afterall the original Lord was killed by a "hound from hell". Imagine where one could go with a story based on that.

I have heard, from very unreliable sources that Ritchie is writing his own story for the second one as well, including characters like Prof. Moriaty and Mycroft along with Watson and his beloved mistress.

I'm glad that Ritchie decided to drop the DC comic movie and focusing on the Sequel to Sherlock.

I agree with you FourZeroEight. I bet that if Ritchie spends all his energy on Sherlock, the sequel will end up being astounding. You should create a group based on the Sherlock franchise, that way you can share opinions with other users on how good/bad Ritchie develops the movies: http://www.amcentertainment.com/Network/ManageGroup.aspx
