First 'Prince of Persia' Trailer Hits The Web

 In  Action/Adventure

When it was first announced some time ago that Disney was adapting the video game franchise "Prince of Persia" into a film property, it was said they were looking for the next franchise to fill the shoes of "Pirates of the Caribbean". They took that challenge seriously by casting Jake Gyllenhaal in the lead role with impressive supporting cast members like Sir Ben Kingsley and Alfred Molina (many will know him best as Doc Ock from "Spider-Man 2").

Now the first full trailer for "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" has hit the web which you can see below:

"Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" opens in an AMC theater near you May 28th 2010.

Question: Do you think Prince of Persia could rival the popularity of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise?

Frst of all Jake effin Gyllenhaal..ohh the humanity!!... i have played all the games and keep up with everything POP i can't believe they couldn't get a real Persian to play the part or close enough.. they would have at least saved on the fake n bake. I will def not watch this movie or even rent the movie total character assassination including who ever is playing the female lead she's not even remotely close. Animated prince would frst whoop aS* and jake would go cryin bak 2 his mommy. Ugg i will stop now and not to give any more importance to this catastrophe. Play the game and u'll get my drift....and to think i luved POTC all three of emm....disappointing utterly.

Personally, I tend to agree that video game based movies tend to... exaggerate the parts that have nothing to do with the game. I understand both sides.

I say, the best option is to get your opinion heard... Start a group of your own here, talking about video games in movies, or a Prince of Persia group... or write about it on your blog here.

Regardless of the movie's authenticity to the video game, I can see this movie generating a ton of money, and many sequels, like the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise did.

Ash, you should post your opinion in the 'Disney' group. I am sure they would appreciate your contributions to the discussions!!
