What 'Twilight' Could Have Been

What if the film version of "Twilight" wasn't about a new girl falling in love with a strange outsider with mysterious tendencies, but about jocks and CIA plots? Sounds pretty crazy, right?
Well according to Film School Rejects, that's what almost happened. FSR talked to "Twilight" and "New Moon" screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg and she revealed that when the galleys (that is, the version of a book before final edits and before it hits book stores) for the book "Twilight" were originally optioned by Paramount, that studio had some very different ideas for what to do with the story.
She says:
"I know that the CIA was involved, and the character Bella was a track star or something like that. It's so contrary to the character Stephanie created."
It's often the case that book series, even very popular and intricate book series become changed and amalgamated almost beyond recognition. Fortunately for "Twilight" fans, Summit has remained pretty true to the original source and story.
Do you think that Paramount's plan for the "Twilight" film would have found success? Let us know!
