'Alice' Continues to Dominate Box Office
In
Box Office
Wonderland was still the place to be at the box office this weekend, as Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" continued its reign at the top in its second week in release. The 3D opus took in an estimated $62 million (slipping only 46% after a record-setting $116 million opening weekend), blasting the competition by a sizable margin,
Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass's latest collaboration, "Green Zone," came in second with $14.5 million.
The difference between "Alice" and its nearest competitor is reminiscent of "Avatar" and the competition during its time in the sun -- which is indicative, once again, of the power that well-made 3D films are having on audiences -- and the entire film industry.
Here's your Box Office Top 5:
- "Alice in Wonderland" - $62 million (Fun Fact: Worldwide gross is now over $430 million in just two weeks!)
- "Green Zone" - $14.5 million
- She's Out of My League - $9.6 million
- "Remember Me" - $8.1 million
- "Our Family Wedding" - $7.6 million
Just to show the true level of dominance "Alice" has on the box office, the other four films in the top 5 combined are still nearly $23 million off of "Alice's" second week totals. Madness!
