'Paranormal' Success Spurs New 'Blair Witch' Talk
In
Horror
When footage from "Paranormal Activity" began floating around, the first comparisons it drew were to "The Blair Witch Project". In all fairness to both films, other than the visual style and belonging to the horror genre, the similarities between the two films are few and far between.
But with the big success "Paranormal" has been enjoying, it was inevitable that talk of another "Blair Witch" project would surface once again. This time it's the creators of the original film (who opted to have nothing to do with the ill fated sequel) who are talking about another film.
Eduardo Sanchez and Daniel Myrick have brought a story to Lionsgate (who own the rights to the franchise) and say that it is now up to the studio to either give the project a thumbs up or thumbs down.
The pair of filmmakers say their idea would pick up the aftermath of the original film, completely ignoring the sequel, essentially pretending it doesn't exist, and would be shot in a "mixed first person" style that they compare more to "District 9" than "Paranormal Activity" or the original "Blair Witch".
Question: Would you be up for seeing another Blair Witch Project if it was done in this manner?
