The first teaser trailer for director Paul Thomas Anderson’s “The Master” has been released and it serves as a reminder of the phenomenal talent that two time Oscar-nominee Joaquin Phoenix (for “Walk the Line” and “Gladiator” respectively) brings to the table.
He is, as the title of this piece indicates, electrifying to watch in a fairly simply interrogation scene overlaid with flashback footage of the events under discussion.
Take a look at the trailer and synopsis via Coming Soon below:
Synopsis:
In the years following World War II a charismatic intellectual (Philip Seymour Hoffman) launches a faith-based organization and taps a young drifter (Joaquin Phoenix) as his right-hand man. But as the faith begins to gain a fervent following, the onetime vagabond finds himself questioning the belief system he has embraced, and his mentor.
Anderson directs a cast that includes Philip Seymour Hoffman, Joaquin Phoenix, Jesse Plemons, David Warshofsky, Amy Adams and Rami Malek.
“The Master” opens in AMC Theatres on October 12th.
