This weekend director Tim Burton’s tale of a boy and his till-death-do-they-part-and-beyond love for his dog, “Frankenweenie”, opens in AMC Theatres everywhere – make sure to purchase your tickets HERE.
AMC had the opportunity to sit down with “Frankenweenie” director Tim Burton to talk about returning to his Disney and childhood roots, imagining a world in which a boy’s pure love for his dog is enough to bring him back to life and creating a simultaneously classic and modern aesthetic for this unique and imaginative tale.
Take a look at our interview below.
From creative genius Tim Burton ("Alice in Wonderland," "The Nightmare Before Christmas") comes "Frankenweenie," a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor's fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new "leash on life" can be monstrous.
A stop-motion animated film, "Frankenweenie" will be filmed in black and white and rendered in 3D, which will elevate the classic style to a whole new experience.
Tim Burton directs a voice cast that includes Winona Ryder, Martin Short, Catherine O'Hara, Martin Landau, Charlie Tahan, Atticus Shaffer, Robert Capron and Conchata Ferrell.
