Fans of "Anchorman" were ecstatic when news first hit that a sequel would be coming. This hopeful rumor was then solidified by a teaser trailer, which premiered earlier this year with Sacha Baron Cohen's "The Dictator". We learned a couple of months ago from director Adam McKay that the film will include some musical numbers and that the story will focus on the dawn of 24-hour cable news. That is about all we've heard up to this point and by the beard of Zeus, we've been waiting patiently for updates.

News just hit today that Kristen Wiig, writer, actress and comedic extraordinaire, may play the love interest of "lamp-lover" Brick Tamland, played by Steve Carell. We have no further details on her character at the moment but pairing those two together sounds like a no-brainer, fantastic idea.

Most of the original cast will be reprising their roles including Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, David Koechner and Christina Applegate. There is currently no script penned at the moment but a release date has been set for next October, so I'd imagine we should be hearing something on that front very soon.
