This year, we are proud to showcase six of the Best Picture nominees, now playing at AMC. With memorable performances crafted by incredibly talented directors, this year’s nominees stand out and have been recognized as AMC Artisan Films. Just like you, we will be tuning into the 93rd Academy Awards on April 25th to see which film will be crowned Best Picture.

To prepare for the Oscars, we have provided you a glimpse into each film and the additional nominations they received from the Academy. Learn more about each film and experience them on the big screen at your favorite AMC.

THE FATHER

Anthony (Hopkins) is 80, mischievous, living defiantly alone and rejecting the carers that his daughter, Anne (Colman), encouragingly introduces. Yet help is also becoming a necessity for Anne; she can’t make daily visits anymore and Anthony's grip on reality is unraveling. As we experience the ebb and flow of his memory, how much of his own identity and past can Anthony cling to? JUDAS AND THE BLACK MESSIAH

FBI informant William O'Neal (Stanfield) infiltrates the Illinois Black Panther Party and is tasked with keeping tabs on their charismatic leader, Chairman Fred Hampton (Kaluuya). A career thief, O'Neal revels in the danger of manipulating both his comrades and his handler, Special Agent Roy Mitchell. Hampton's political prowess grows just as he's falling in love with fellow revolutionary Deborah Johnson. Meanwhile, a battle wages for O'Neal's soul. Will he align with the forces of good? MINARI

A tender and sweeping story about what roots us, Minari follows a Korean-American family that moves to an Arkansas farm in search of their own American Dream. The family home changes completely with the arrival of their sly, foul-mouthed, but incredibly loving grandmother. Amidst the instability and challenges of this new life in the rugged Ozarks, MINARI shows the undeniable resilience of family and what really makes a home. MINARI received six Academy Awards nominations including, Steven Yeun (Actor in a Leading Role), Yuh-Jung Youn (Actress in a Supporting Role) and Lee Isaac Chung (Director).

NOMADLAND

Following the economic collapse of a company town in rural Nevada, Fern (McDormand) packs her van and sets off on the road exploring a life outside of conventional society as a modern-day nomad. The third feature film from director Chloe Zhao, NOMADLAND features real nomads Linda May, Swankie and Bob Wells as Fern's mentors and comrades in her exploration through the vast landscape of the American West. NOMADLAND received six Academy Awards nominations including, Frances McDormand (Actress in a Leading Role) and Chloé Zhao (Director).

SOUND OF METAL

Metal drummer Ruben (Ahmed) begins to lose his hearing. When a doctor tells him his condition will worsen, he thinks his career and life is over. His girlfriend Lou checks the former addict into a rehab for the deaf hoping it will prevent a relapse and help him adapt to his new life. After being welcomed and accepted just as he is, Ruben must choose between his new normal and the life he once knew. SOUND OF METAL received six Academy Awards nominations including, Riz Ahmed (Actor in a Leading Role) and Paul Raci (Actor in a Supporting Role).
