4 Reasons to See Spider-Man: Far From Home on the Biggest Screen Possible
Jon Watts’ SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME may be the eighth solo film in 19 years for the web-slinger, but it’s most definitely one of his best big-screen adventures yet. There was a high bar in place thanks to the epicness of AVENGERS: ENDGAME at the start of the summer, but the emotional and hilarious superhero adventure still managed to do something very different and be incredibly fun.
Eventually, the Marvel Cinematic Universe film will be making its way to home entertainment, but SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME is a blockbuster that deserves to be seen on the big screen — and if you missed your opportunity earlier this summer, you're getting a second chance. With four minutes of never-before-seen footage, the 23rd MCU feature is heading back to IMAX screens for a limited run starting Labor Day weekend, and here are just a few reasons why you need to check it out.
The Visual Effects Are Big and Beautiful
The pairing of Hollywood and computers has created some incredible cinematic magic in the last half century, and SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME is a beautiful exercise in just how far visual effects have come. Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio is not a character that could be properly brought to life without brilliant CGI, and not only does the movie deliver, but it’s incredible to see stretched across a massive canvas.
The Action Sequences Are Epic
Few superheroes are as dynamic on the big screen as Spider-Man, constantly zipping and swinging around even when he’s not fighting crime. Things get even better when he actually is, though, and SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME beautifully delivers with a number of intense and memorable action sequences. All of them do a wonderful job showcasing stunning European locations we don’t normally get to see the eponymous wall-crawler explore.
Comedy Is Better With a Crowd
Spider-Man can stick to walls, possesses super strength, and has heightened senses, but another one of his great abilities is his fantastic sense of humor. While most heroes tend to take fighting bad guys seriously, Peter Parker is constantly throwing out jokes and one-liners, which has the excellent effect of throwing enemies off their game. This is an aspect of the character that SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME captures incredibly well, and it’s part of what makes it such a tremendous big screen experience. There are few sensations as incredible as being in a crowded movie theatre that is in matching hysterics because of what is being projected on the white wall at the front of the room. There are many lines and moments in the latest Marvel Studios release that are just too hilarious to experience alone in your living room.
Big Cliffhangers Deserve Big Screens
SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME does mark the end of a particular era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as it is the final release of what has been dubbed Phase 3. But part of the responsibility of being an ending in this franchise is also providing a new beginning. And while secrets most definitely shouldn’t be shared here, that is a responsibility that the amazing, spectacular, superior, sensational blockbuster takes on brilliantly. The ending of this movie, and what it teases for the future, is immense, and the cliffhangers are delivered in sequences that absolutely must be experienced on the biggest screen you can find.
SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME originally hit theatres on July 2, but will be coming back for a limited theatrical run in IMAX at AMC this Labor Day weekend. Get your tickets now!
