With most of the outside world temporarily closed, families everywhere are looking for ways to keep everybody happy and entertained indoors. Enjoying movies together is the perfect activity, and cinema history is filled with countless family-friendly titles to choose from.
But you don't have to go back far to find some of the greats. Here are five recent live-action family movies that you can watch right now on AMC Theatres On Demand.
Wonder
WONDER is definitely emotional and will make you cry, particularly because you can’t help but love Jacob Tremblay as August "Auggie" Pullman, a young boy living with a condition that causes a medical facial deformity. It’s a beautiful movie, co-starring Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson, Noah Jupe, Izabela Vidovic, Mandy Patinkin and Daveed Diggs, and one that has a powerful message about family.
The Kid Who Would Be King
The legend of King Arthur and His Knights of the Round Table will be a story that lives on forever, as each generation passes it on to the next, and THE KID WHO WOULD BE KING is a superb reimagining. The adventure film questions what would happen if the legends were true and a young boy discovered and wielded the Excalibur. What unfolds is a witty and laugh-filled ride that is delightful all the way through.
Playing With Fire
In recent years, John Cena has established himself as one of the most charismatic and likable big screen personalities, and that most definitely comes through in this story about a firehouse that becomes home for three young children who get separated from their parents after an accident. It’s goofy fun for all ages and features a wonderful supporting cast including Keegan-Michael Key, John Leguizamo, Brianna Hildebrand, Dennis Haysbert and Judy Greer.
Aladdin
ALADDIN is truly one of the most beloved titles in the history of Walt Disney Animation Studios, so director Guy Ritchie had a serious challenge put in front of him to transform the story into a live-action fantasy film starring Will Smith as Genie. Fortunately, the director was able to recapture the wonderful spirit of the animated blockbuster, and create a fantastic adventure featuring several excellent musical numbers.
Dora and the Lost City of Gold
A live-action adaptation of the children’s cartoon show “Dora the Explorer,” DORA AND THE LOST CITY OF GOLD truly offers a fun time for audiences of all ages. It’s knowingly silly in all of the best ways and outrageously weird, particularly thanks to an enchanting performance by star Isabela Moner.
