Batman's New Toy Is The Flying Fox
This November, JUSTICE LEAGUE will bring our favorite DC heroes together in one epic film. At the forefront is a character you all may be familiar with and his name is Batman. Being the only non-metahuman, Batman must utilize his cunning detective work, his combat skills, and weaponry along with his trusty Batmobile to take care of business.
Ever since the fall of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman are searching to find the others to stop Steppenwolf and his Parademon army that’s knocking on Earth's door. To do this, Batman has created multiple machines to help him do his dirty work. We’ve already seen the Batmobile in action, along with what Batman dubs the Nightcrawler:
Cyborg Pilots The Night Crawler
Seeing that Batman’s super power is being rich, it’s feasible to believe that Batman would go the extra mile to create these machines to not only help himself but his entire team. As you can see here, Batman is allowing Cyborg to use the Nightcrawler which only gives us more of a reason to believe that he can play well with others.
The Batmobile and the Nightcrawler aren’t the only machines Batman will be using in this film, however. Another piece of high-tech Batman has concocted is similar to the Batwing, only much bigger. He calls it the Flying Fox.
What Is The Flying Fox?
Entertainment Weekly released this concept art depicting the exterior of the Flying Fox. Production designer Patrick Tatopoulos spoke with EW to gives us some insight into Batman’s new toy:
“You can put three Batmobiles in the lower part of it. I didn’t want to do a sleek airplane; it needed to feel like an extremely avant-garde classic. With the maneuverability of a jet—but it can actually carry things.”
The key words here are “carry things.” While Batman has plenty of gadgets and machines to house inside of this type of aircraft, apparently he’s using it for more than just a storage unit.
The Flying Fox Will Act As The Justice League’s Headquarters
Tatopoulos then gave a more detailed description as to what’s housed inside of this craft:
“The bottom part of the jet is a huge cargo bay, which the Batmobile sits in. The second floor is like a cultural center, with computer terminals. The third story is the cockpit. Whatever floor you are on, you can see [the other] two stories.”
It appears as though Batman has constructed this massive aircraft to not only help the Justice League get from point A to point B, but that it will also act as a moving headquarters for the Justice League, like a mini-Batcave. In Marvel terms, think of this vehicle as considerably smaller than a Helicarrier and a bit bigger than a Quinjet.
What Other Gadgets Or Vehicles Does Batman Have Up His Sleeve?
The Batmobile, the Nightcrawler, and the Flying Fox have all been confirmed to appear in JUSTICE LEAGUE. Batman v Superman introduced us to Zack Snyder’s version of the Batwing so it’s plausible that this aircraft could also make an appearance. There have also been rumors that the Batsubmarine could make an appearance at some point.
Batman is clearly doing everything he can to help his team win no matter the costs. He’s certainly become more of a team player as of late. Thanks to Superman, Batman is a better hero now than ever before. After all, Superman helped people see the best part of themselves. It surely helped Batman.
