Ten Things You Need to Know from 2017 CinemaCon Day 1

As you can imagine, day 1 at CinemaCon did not disappoint. First batch of news was the new release date for Baby Driver – now opening at AMC Theatres on June 28. We even got a shout-out from director Edgar Wright, Jon Hamm and Ansel Elgort. Read on to see the ten things we’re allowed to tell you.

TODAY the second trailer for Spider-Man Homecoming Have you seen it yet? What came first - the script or the soundtrack? Well for Baby Driver it was the soundtrack. The movie is fueled by the 35-song soundtrack, which the script was then specifically written around. That’s a flip on the workflow process don’t you think? Additionally, many of the car chases in Baby Driver were shot on the famous (or infamous) I-85 in Atlanta, GA. Meghan Trainor has a new song in the upcoming movie, Smurfs: The Lost Village called I’m a Lady…we see you Lady Smurf! Want to see the trailer for Smurfs: The Lost Village? Go here! Academy Award nominee, Ryan Gosling took the stage to speak about filming Blade Runner 2049 saying it is, “surreal to be on the set of Blade Runner,” then telling the crowd to literally, “prepare to go steady with the edge of your seat!” Don’t worry RG, we’re ready and we can’t wait! Mark your calendars! Sony Pictures announced that the sequel to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl in the Spider’s Web will debut in theatres on October 5, 2018. Actors Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas and Jack Black introduced the world premiere trailer of Jumanji. Dwayne Johnson also shared a story about when he first met comedic legend Robin Williams and the effect it had on him during the making of the film. For Dwayne, the movie meant paying homage to Robin’s memory.   Idris Elba gave a video shout-out for The Dark Tower which included a mashup up of the trailer promoting the series of books from Stephen King. The first trailer will feature Idris and Matthew McConaughey. Now that’s a duo we look forward to seeing. Animated film fans get ready, because Sony Pictures spoke about an investment in animated films starting in April and continuing through 2018!!! Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry and Zachary Levi will star in The Star, a faith-based animated film about the first Christmas. An animated remake of Peter Rabbit will hop into theatres starring the voices of James Corden, Margot Robbie and Daisy Ridley.

BONUS NEWS:
