Two years after we were introduced to Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele on the big screen, their fascinating rollercoaster ride of a relationship is coming to an end with Fifty Shades Freed. Fans of the franchise have been biting their nails to see how next year's final chapter will shape up, but aside from a heart-pumping teaser this past September and some tantalizing pictures of a much-anticipated wedding, the project has been largely kept under wraps.
Fret not, though. With less than four months until Freed hits theaters, the marketing machine has started to ramp up. Rejoice, because Universal has released the film's full-length trailer, and it teases a whole lot of trouble for our beloved couple. Check it out:
Hmm... I never expected to see such an intricate car-chase sequence in the Fifty Shades franchise, but I'll take it. We've seen Ana and Christian go through a lot, whether that's facing personal demons or overcoming self-destructive tendencies. Because of that, I've noticed people asking whether there was anything else worth exploring about their lives. As this trailer just proved, there is.
First of all, we have the disgraced Jack Hyde coming into play once again, completely desperate and hellbent on revenge after the events of Fifty Shades Darker. Then, there's a new test in Ana and Christian's relationship, as there are hints of infidelity as well as strong roadblocks in the form of Elena Lincoln (Kim Basinger) and Gia Matteo (Arielle Kebbel).
Can't get enough of the film? Don't worry, because that wasn't all the goodness we got from today. To hype us up even further (I mean, is that even possible by this point?), the studio also released a brand new poster:
The Internet Had A Bit Of A Meltdown With The Trailer
Being the first full-length trailer for the last installment of the Fifty Shades franchise, the movie caused quite a stir online. Hundreds of people took to Twitter to share their excitement and sadness over the series coming to an end in less than a year:
I can't say I disagree with them. While seeing what's next for Ana and Christian is great, knowing that Fifty Shades Of Grey is coming to an end is a bit sad. Let's just cross our fingers for Fifty Shades Freed to be a worthy conclusion to this romantic series.
Fifty Shades Freed will hit theaters on February 9, 2018.
