Promotional posters for superhero films don't have the greatest track record. Just this past year, we've seen quite a few questionable one-sheets for upcoming comic book adventures that have left fans less than disappointed. Fortunately, Warner Bros. is working hard to avoid that problem with Justice League. The highly-anticipated superhero epic is right around the corner, and its marketing machine has going full steam through these final few weeks.
To celebrate the movie's upcoming release in Beijing, Warner Bros. released six individual posters for each member of the League (yes, including one for Superman), and they're awesome. Check them out:
1. The Man Of Steel Is Finally Here
Superman has been largely absent from the film's marketing campaign. He appeared in the latest trailer in a dream sequence, and the few glimpses we've gotten of him so far have come from promotional images. The Big Blue Boy Scout hadn't been shown in an official poster, but fortunately for us geeks, this poster finally puts the hero on full display.
2. Batman Strikes A Pose
Ben Affleck's Batman was modeled after Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, and the visual influence was obvious throughout BvS. Justice League has been making the effort to move away from the Dceu's dark aesthetic, but that doesn't mean the homages to the storyline will stop. In this new poster, the Caped Crusader emulates his signature pose from the graphic novel, and it looks grueling and gorgeous.
3. Wonder Woman And Her Lasso Of Truth
We got to see Diana Prince's lasso in action in Wonder Woman, and it proved to be a formidable weapon. Her adversaries in that film were mostly human, though. Now, the hero's trusty weapon will prove its strength against Steppenwolf. But worry not, because judging by the poster, the lasso of truth will continue to be a powerful companion.
4. The Flash Races Into Danger
The Flash is one of DC's strongest superheroes, and he'll get to unleash his full potential in Justice League. The trailers have shown the film won't hold back in the depiction of Barry Allen's outlandish powers, both in terms of his insane speed, as well as his out-of-control blue lightning.
5. Aquaman Makes Use Of His Ocean Power
Arthur Curry is doing his thing and riding the waves into danger. Curiously, this is the same pose we see the hero strike in almost every trailer of the film, as he rides a Parademon into some abandoned buildings.
6. Cyborg Is Ready For Action
Cyborg (a.k.a. Victor Stone) will be one of the team's most useful assets against Darkseid's dark forces thanks to his Mother Box-based powers. In his poster, he's making good use of his abilities by creating one of his signature cannons from the comics. The Parademons better watch out, because those things are nothing to be toyed with.
I love the fact that these posters embrace the vivid colors that make up these superheroes, while at the same time putting the characters' larger-than-life natures on full display. This may be the diehard comic book fan in me speaking, but waiting for this film to hit theaters is becoming an increasingly tough challenge.
The Justice League will come together to beat up Steppenwolf and his minions on November 17, 2017.
