The Incredibles 2 Cast

When THE INCREDIBLES premiered in 2004 it immediately became one of the most beloved Pixar properties. The characters and themes in THE INCREDIBLES connected with parents and children alike, and the movie absolutely nailed superhero concepts that other movies had blown. Now, 14 years later, THE INCREDIBLES 2 is bringing Pixar’s first superhero family back to theaters on June 14.
The entire Parr family returns for THE INCREDIBLES 2, with most of the impressive voice cast also leaping back into action. The cast of THE INCREDIBLES series may not quite be star-studded in the sense that these actors aren’t regularly headlining giant movies – but that doesn’t mean any lack of talent. In preparation for THE INCREDIBLES 2, let’s highlight the fantastic performers who bring the film’s characters to life.
Holly Hunter as Elastigirl
Holly Hunter is a master, and her work as Elastigirl was a big factor in the success of the original. Hunter has been acting since the early ‘80s, with a string of great leading roles (The Piano, Broadcast News, and the TNT series Saving Grace) and a great many character actor gigs. Hunter isn’t known for voice acting, but that didn’t stop her from layering depth, strength, and vulnerability into her work in THE INCREDIBLES.
Craig T. Nelson as Mr. Incredible
Craig T. Nelson was a household name in the ‘80s and ’90s, but younger generations mainly know him as the voice of Bob Parr, aka Mr. Incredible. Nelson has been acting for more than 45 years, but he rose to fame in the ‘80s with his role in Poltergeist and the title role of popular TV show Coach, which ran for nine seasons. Over the last 20 years, Nelson has appeared in The District, My Name is Earl, Monk, Parenthood and Netflix’s Grace and Frankie just to name a few.
Sarah Vowell as Violet Parr
THE INCREDIBLES is Sarah Vowell’s most high-profile role, but that doesn’t mean she’s got no other work to her name. Vowell has appeared on TV shows and films over the years, but she is primarily known as a historian, author and journalist. She is a New York Times bestselling author and has penned seven non-fiction books about U.S. History, and also a frequent contributor to the long-running radio show This American Life. Thanks to that radio work, her voice talents are undeniable. Vowell was a delight in the first film and we are thrilled she is returning for THE INCREDIBLES 2.
Huck Milner as “Dash” Parr
Huck Milner makes his acting debut as Dashiell “Dash” Parr in THE INCREDIBLES 2. Spencer Fox voiced Dash in THE INCREDIBLES, but in the time between films Fox aged out of the role. Because this is Milner’s first film, we know very little about him. Based on trailers and interviews, he seems like a perfect fit for the role. We’re excited to hear him as part of the cast.
Samuel L. Jackson as Frozone
Samuel L. Jackson is easily the most well-known actor in the cast, and indeed one of the most famous actors in the world. We could spend all week listing his film credits, so we’ll stick with Pulp Fiction, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Star Wars prequels, and M. Night Shyamalan’s Unbreakable. He is a go-to actor for Quentin Tarantino, and outside Tarantino’s circle Jackson still has too many memorable roles to list. After THE INCREDIBLES 2, we’ll see him reunite with Bruce Willis for Glass, the sequel to Unbreakable.
Brad Bird as Edna Mode
As the writer and director of both THE INCREDIBLES movies, Bird might seem like an unlikely cast member. But he did the temp voice track for costume designer Edna Mode while making the first movie, and the team never found an actor to do better work as the character. So Bird’s voice stayed, and he’s back for the sequel. Bird worked on early seasons of The Simpsons as a director and character artist, and is an accomplished screenwriter and director. His credits include The Iron Giant, Ratatouille, Tomorrowland, and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.
Jonathan Banks as Rick Dicker
Jonathan Banks voices government agent Rick Dicker, and he’s a new addition to the cast. The character was originally voiced by Bud Luckey in THE INCREDIBLES, but Luckey passed away earlier this year. Banks is a veteran actor who has a resume that is as imposing as he is. Banks mostly works as a character actor, and is best known for his role as Mike Ehrmantraut on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.
Bob Odenkirk as Winston Deavor
THE INCREDIBLES 2 introduces audiences to Winston Deavor, voiced by the talented Bob Odenkirk. Deavor is a pivotal part of the new film, and this isn’t Odenkrik’s first rodeo. The actor started his career as a comedy writer and performer on The Ben Stiller Show, The Larry Sanders Show and his own Mr. Show. In recent years, Odenkirk has become well-known for his role as Saul Goodman on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. He’s a prolific actor who is an excellent addition to THE INCREDIBLES 2 cast.
Catherine Keener as Evelyn Deavor
The talented Catherine Keener voices tech expert Evelyn Deavor. We don’t know much about her character aside from the fact that she’s sister to Winston Deavor and an accomplished inventor. But Keener has been acting for over 30 years, with starring roles Being John Malkovich, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Capote and Get Out. Keener’s impressive range makes her a perfect fit for THE INCREDIBLES 2, and we can’t wait to hear what she brings to the role.
Sophia Bush as Voyd
Sophia Bush is Voyd, a fan of Elastigirl who can create transportive portals and becomes a superhero among a new wave of Supers. We don’t know much more about her character, but we do know quite a bit about Sophia Bush. She is best known for her roles as Brooke Davis on One Tree Hill and Erin Lindsey in the Chicago TV franchise. Davis has also starred in films such as John Tucker Must Die, The Hitcher and Stay Alive. She also lent her voice to the popular Disney animated series, Phineas and Ferb.
Isabella Rossellini as The Ambassador
Isabella Rossellini voices a character named The Ambassador, but we don’t even have an image of her yet. The character is described as a dignified foreign official who supports the legalization of superheroes. Though we don’t quite know the character’s larger role in the film, Isabella Rossellini is a great choice to play any role. She’s extremely versatile and brings a level of gravitas to any project. Rossellini is best known for her roles in Blue Velvet, Death Becomes Her and Fearless.
John Ratzenberger as The Underminer
John Ratzenberger has long been one of Pixar’s go-to voice actors, and has voiced characters in almost every single Pixar film. His most notable Pixar role is Hamm the Piggybank in the Toy Story franchise, but he was heard as The Underminer at the very end of THE INCREDIBLES. The character returns for the opening of THE INCREDIBLES 2, with a much larger role. Besides his work in Pixar films, Ratzenberger is best known for his role as Cliff on the beloved TV series Cheers.
