AMC Safe & Clean
AMC Safe & Clean is a set of cleaning protocols and measures that we have implemented to protect the health and safety of our guests and crew. We designed AMC Safe & Clean with this top priority in mind.
Our new policies are advised by Dr. Joseph Allen, a noted expert and faculty member at Harvard School of Public Health. New, enhanced cleaning procedures have been developed in partnership with the world leader in all things clean, Clorox®
- Enhanced Cleaning Procedures: Common areas and high touch points will be routinely disinfected throughout the day. There will be extra time between movies so that auditoriums can be cleaned between each showtime. Upgraded equipment, including an electrostatic disinfectant sprayer and vacuums with HEPA filters will be used each night. Upgraded MERV 13 HVAC filters will be installed wherever possible.
- Social Distancing Standards: Maintain social distance before, during and after the movie. Signs will be posted throughout the theatre for guidance.
- Simplified Menu: Selections will be temporarily reduced in order to ensure quick service and shorter lines. AMC Perfectly Popcorn, Coca-Cola Freestyle® beverages and other movie treat classics like hot dogs, MovieNachos, and candy will be available. To reduce contact, large popcorn and large fountain drink refills will be unavailable at this time.
- Reduced Auditorium Capacities: To ensure proper social distancing within theatre auditoriums, AMC will approach seat capacity limitations in four distinct phases.
- Phase 1 will commence first, when AMC will make available a maximum of 30% of the seating capacity in every showtime, at all its theatres nationwide.
- Phase 2 will begin when AMC deems it to be acceptable given local and regional health conditions, and capacity limitations will rise to 40%. Seat blocking technology will be deployed during this second phase, and AMC’s ticketing engine will automatically block out one seat on either side of every party. In non-recliner auditoriums, AMC will automatically block out every other row of seats for every showtime.
- Phase 3 is expected to commence around Labor Day weekend, and seat capacity limits will increase to 50%.
- And finally, in Phase 4, expected around Thanksgiving, AMC plans to operate at full capacity.
- The dates of these third and fourth phases may be adjusted based on local and regional health conditions at the time.
- AMC will always follow all federal, state and local directives, including those that mandate a maximum capacity if lower than those envisioned in AMC’s four phases as now planned.
- Daily Health Screenings: Managers and crew will have their temperatures read before starting their shifts. Anyone who has a fever or symptoms is required to self-quarantine until symptom free for at least 72 hours.
- Frequent Handwashing: Our managers and crew will be required to wash their hands routinely for at least 20 seconds.
- Required PPE: Associates will be required to wear masks. Plexiglass shields have also been installed in each theatre at key locations where crew and guests interact.
