Focus Features to Release Stephen Frears’ “Victoria and Abdul” in 2017

Focus Features is set to release Stephen Frears’ “Victoria and Abdul” on Sept. 22, 2017 in limited release. 

The film stars Judi Dench, Eddie Izzard and Ali Fazal and is a true story about the friendship between a young clerk from India and Queen Victoria (played by Dench).

The film was adapted by Lee Hall from Shrabani Basu’s book “Victoria & Abdul: The True Story Of The Queen’s Closest Confidante.” Working Title is producing the film.

James Franco to Star in ‘The Game’ Adaptation

James Franco will star in the on-screen adaptation of “The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists,” according to media reports. 

The book is about Neil Strauss’ experience in the pick-up-artist community, who met his wing-man and guru Mystery in a boot camp. Franco will portray Mystery in the film. 

Franco will be partnering with producer Demian Gregory for a four film deal through Gregory’s film financing groups and Franco’s Rabbit Bandini Productions. Executive producers include Nicholas Cafritz and Robert Reed Peterson, as well as Franco’s business partner Vince Jolivette. 

The film is looking at a production start in 2017.
