Sony Pictures Classics Acquires Diane Lane’s ‘Paris Can Wait’
Sony Pictures Classics has bought the North American rights to “Paris Can Wait,” the feature directorial debut of Eleanor Coppola. The film stars Diane Lane, Arnaud Viard and Alec Baldwin and follows an American woman in a lifeless marriage who suddenly finds herself on a road trip from Cannes to Paris with a handsome Frenchman.
Coppola previously directed the famed 1991 documentary “Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker’s Apocalypse,” about the tumultuous making of the classic Vietnam war epic “Apocalypse Now,” which was directed by her husband Francis Ford Coppola. She won an Emmy and several critics prizes for the acclaimed documentary, but it was snubbed by the Oscars. She has been in the industry for five decades now.
