Moira Buffini To Write 'The Night Circus'

By AMC February 29, 2012

Screenwriter Moira Buffini, most recently known for her fine script work on the latest incarnation of "Jane Eyre" and on Stephen Frears' "Tamara Drewe," has been chosen to write "The Night Circus" for Summit Entertainment. Producing the film is Jeff Clifford and David Heyman. The story is based off a popular novel fantasy written by Erin Morgenstern.

"The Night Circus" is set at the beginning of the 19th century, telling the story of two young magicians, pawns in an age-old rivalry, between their mercurial, illusionist fathers, and the enchanted circus where their competition and romances play out. The fates of everyone involved, from creators and performers to patrons, hang in the duo's balance. The next script that Buffini wrote for the big screen, Neil Jordan's "Byzantium," is a fantasy thriller that stars Gemma Arterton and Saoirse Ronan. There is currently no set release date for the film.
