Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Becomes 'Hercules'

By AMC March 6, 2012

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson's Hollywood career continues to skyrocket and he's just been cast not one, but two new features.

The first film he'll be working on is “Hercules” with director Brett Ratner for MGM. That production should start in October. Hercules will be based on the Steve Moore graphic novel. Here's a description:

When the Thracian King summons the Greek hero and his six battle-worn companions to mold the Thracian army into a bloodthirsty, ruthless killing machine, the Son of Zeus rushes to answer the call of war and gold. But within the nation of Thrace lies an epic tale of war, murder, deception, and sacrifice that shows Hercules how far from grace he’s fallen- and what he must accomplish for redemption.

Johnson Will also star in “Ciudad,” an action thriller to be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo. The movie is about a black market mercenary (Johnson) who is hired by a Brazilian drug lord to go and rescue his daughter.

You'll see Johnson next in “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” this summer.
