Joel Kinnaman Lands Lead Role In The 'Robocop' Remake

By AMC March 5, 2012

The remake for the 1987 sci-fi classic "Robocop" has been in and out of development for the past couple of years. Directors have come and gone, along with actors, but today production is finally moving forward as "The Killing" actor Joel Kinnaman signs on to play this version's Alex Murphy in the upcoming remake. José Padilha ("Elite Squad: The Enemy Within") is directing based off the script written by Nick Schenk and Joshua Zetumer.

The first "Robocop" movie was a hit, spawning two more movies and one monstrous fan base. There's currently no set date for shooting. Kinnaman recently made his North American debut in theaters as he appeared in the sci-fi movie "The Darkest Hour."
