Mia Wasikowska To Be 'Madame Bovary'

By AMC March 31, 2012

Actress Mia Wasikowska ("Jane Eyre") is slipping into the skin of a more provocative character as she signs on to star in Sophie Barthes' "Madame Bovary." The script was written for the screen by Rose Barreneche and will be produced by Felipe Marino and Joe Neurauter under Occupant Entertainment.

Wasikowska will play Emma Bovary, the beautiful wife of a small-town doctor who she married to escape her father's pig farm. She constantly tries to climb the social ladder by engaging in extra-marital affairs. However, her secret isn't completely under wraps. Monsieur Homais (Paul Giamatti) is a confidant to her husband and has figured out what Emma is doing, threatening to expose her horrible secret to her spouse.

The actress recently appeared in the Oscar nominated movie "Albert Nobbs" and will appear in John Hillcoat's new crime drama "The Wettest County" alongside Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Guy Pearce and Jessica Chastain. "Wettest County" will arrive in AMC Theatres on August 31, 2012.
