“Anchorman” director Adam McKay is in negotiations to direct a remake of the 1974 comedy “Uptown Saturday Night” that starred Bill Cosby and Sidney Poitier.
Once McKay finishes with the sequel to Anchorman, set to shoot this year, he'll start work on the remake. The story is about “two pals who visit an illegal nightclub, and are forced to hand over their wallets to thieves. Turns out one of them contains a winning lottery ticket, emboldening the duo to bump up against the criminal element to get back the wallet.”
No word on casting. Judd Apatow is going to produce. Paramount has set a shooting date of early 2013 for a 2014 release.
