Will Smith hasn’t been seen in theatres for four years and this weekend he has come back in a big way with his return to the “Men in Black” franchise after nearly a decade. “Men in Black 3” dominated the weekend box office earning roughly $70 million over the four-day weekend and $203 million internationally, with $12.5 million of the worldwide gross coming from IMAX screens.

Joss Whedon’s “The Avengers” remained a strong contender earning $46.9 million over the weekend down just 16% and coming in just behind James Cameron’s “Avatar” and “Titanic” as the highest grossing film in its fourth weekend.
Peter Berg’s “Battleship” sailed into third place with $13.8 million over the four days, while Sacha Baron Cohen's “The Dictator” took fourth with $11.8 million and rounding out the top five was Oren Peli’s (“Paranormal Activity”) new horror offering “Chernobyl Diaries” with $9.4 million.
