She described the character as something she’s never read before in the script, saying that Max (Tom Hardy) better be careful.
“It’s a really challenging piece of material. I think for me originally when they were like, 'Oh, ‘Mad Max.’' I was like, 'Uh, I’m not going to play the f***ing girl for ‘Mad Max.’' Then I read it and I was like, 'Oh, ‘Mad Max.’ I feel sorry for you.' (Laughs) That rarely happens. It’s just two great characters.”
The film begins production next month in Africa with the first two films shooting back-to-back, but Theron looks to be prepping early by shaving her head. Take a look at the images below to get a sense of where the characters physicality may go. Of course, she may have shaved her head to simply make it easier to don an elaborate wig. But our sense is that this will be a part of the overall aesthetic of the film.
We will keep you updated as details on the project emerge.
Miller directs a cast that includes Tom Hardy, Nicholas Hoult, Zoe Kravitz, Adelaide Clemens and Riley Keough.
