A new international trailer for director Rian Johnson's "Looper" has been released and it highlights even more of the relationship between Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis (who play younger and older versions of the same man) in this unique science fiction offering.
As I've noted previously, Johnson is one of my favorite directors making films at the moment. He has a unique and distinctive voice and yet is completely willing to take risks and never retreads previously explored territory. I enthusiastically recommend his freshman and sophomore offerings "Brick" and "The Brothers Bloom" and count "Looper" as the film that will likely propel him onto the world stage in a larger way.
Take a look at the new trailer via MSN and synopsis for the film below.
In the futuristic action thriller "Looper," time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination. The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels. Ram Bergman and James D. Stern produce.
Look for "Looper" in AMC Theatres on September 28th.
