Jeremy Renner is set to take on the "Bourne" franchise when "The Bourne Legacy" opens in AMC Theatres on August 10th.
But in a recent interview with Empire Magazine producer Frank Marshall indicated that he would like to see Renner and Jason Bourne himself, Matt Damon, join forces at some point in the future.
"You see there are several different [programs] in the movie with different skill sets. All possibilities are open. My dream is that in the next one we see Matt and Jeremy team up."
Meanwhile, Renner provided some insight into what distinguishes the characters, saying:
"(My character is) coming from a completely different background to Jason [Bourne]. He knows exactly who he is; he signed up to this...He wants to be part of a team. I can tell you he was in the military then he joined the [program]. He's a person who wants to be part of something... to have a sense of purpose. But then it's taken away."
"The Bourne Legacy" Synopsis:
The narrative architect behind the "Bourne" film series, Tony Gilroy, takes the helm in the next chapter of the hugely popular espionage franchise that has earned almost $1 billion at the global box office: "The Bourne Legacy." The writer/director expands the "Bourne" universe created by Robert Ludlum with an original story that introduces us to a new hero (Jeremy Renner) whose life-or-death stakes have been triggered by the events of the first three films.
For "The Bourne Legacy," Renner joins fellow series newcomers Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach and Oscar Isaac, while franchise veterans Albert Finney, Joan Allen, David Strathairn and Scott Glenn reprise their roles.
Look for "The Bourne Legacy" in AMC Theatres on August 10th.
