Last night we brought you the new “The Bourne Legacy” trailer which screened along with AMC’s live-chat Q&A with star Jeremy Renner & director Tony Gilroy at the AMC Century City in Los Angeles

Today we bring you the interview that AMC Movie News Managing Editor John Campea was able to conduct with Renner and Gilroy just prior to the event.

Take a look at the interview below in which they discuss how they have maintained the tone of the franchise while still brining something new to it and how the idea of an action star has changed over the years.

Synopsis:

The narrative architect behind the "Bourne" film series, Tony Gilroy, takes the helm in the next chapter of the hugely popular espionage franchise that has earned almost $1 billion at the global box office: "The Bourne Legacy." The writer/director expands the "Bourne" universe created by Robert Ludlum with an original story that introduces us to a new hero (Jeremy Renner) whose life-or-death stakes have been triggered by the events of the first three films.

For "The Bourne Legacy," Renner joins fellow series newcomers Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach and Oscar Isaac, while franchise veterans Albert Finney, Joan Allen, David Strathairn and Scott Glenn reprise their roles.

"The Bourne Legacy" debuts in AMC theaters on August 10th, purchase your tickets NOW!

This reply if for CMO175: Wow... I had to comment on your posting. The fact that you believe Batman vs. Superman would beat Captain America 3 strikes me as uninformed. Zack Snyder is a visual master... but his stories and pacing and color palate are truly lacking in the development process. Superman simply had no soul... the man and the movie. And the silly destruction of the city and the landscape IS out of character with what Superman is. How many people died as Superman himself crashed through buildings and caused explosions throughout the movie? Superman would NEVER allow that to happen, but Zack Snyder and his writer would... and did. And it was a boring, stupid mess. And he WILL bring that soulless idiocy to Batman vs. Superman. Captain America, on the other hand? Winter Soldier is the most exciting super hero movie since The Dark Knight. And I, a 55 year old long time comic book universe fan, WILL be in line for Captain America 3! I will have to be convinced -- a LOT -- to turn around and spend my money, and time, in a Zack Snyder Batman vs. Superman. Zack Snyder stole a bit of my soul -- and I hate him for it -- when he introduced zombies that can run down a car. If zombies existed, in a Zack Snyder universe, and they move FASTER than any human... then he has introduced a horror universe in which man has NO hope of survival! Mankind cannot survive in this universe where vicious zombies have the speed to overwhelm any human survival situation... and that vision kills the suspense in a zombie movie. Where is the hope? That does not exist in a Zack Snyder movie. That man is Sucker Punching all of us. I'm not taking it any more. There are too many other fan friendly directors of fantasy movies for me to follow. I only hope that Disney/Marvel will hire the same brother director team to direct Captain America 3. That will be a smart move, indeed. RLJ
