It has long been assumed that Bill Murray would not be participating in the third installment in the "Ghostbusters" franchise that Dan Aykroyd has been trying to get off the ground for the last several years. But in a recent interview with Metro, Aykroyd finally confirmed that Murray will not, in fact, be a part of the project -- should it go into production.
"I can tell you he won't be involved," Aykroyd said. "It's sad but we're passing it on to a new generation. 'Ghostbusters 3' can be a successful movie without Bill. My preference would be to have him involved but at this point he doesn't seem to be coming and we have to move on. It's time to make the third one."
The actor/producer did say that he was moving forward with "Ghostbusters 3".
"We've got a brilliant new writer," he said. "We're working on it to make it just right to satisfy our fans. I'm confident we'll be in production in the next year."
We will keep you updated as details emerge.
