Fans of this summer's "Spider-Man" reboot, "The Amazing Spider-Man" (which earned $751 million in worldwide box-office sales) will be pleased to know that both director Marc Webb and star Andrew Garfield are officially on-board to return for "The Amazing Spider-Man 2".
Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures, and Hannah Minghella, president of production made the announcement today.
Belgrad had the following to say:
"We could not be more confident in the direction we are taking this new Spider-Man storyline and we are tremendously excited to be ramping up production again with Marc at the helm and Andrew continuing on as Peter Parker. We can’t wait to share what we have in store for Peter and Spider-Man with audiences worldwide."
Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner are penning the script based on the existing draft by James Vanderbilt.
There is no official confirmation that Emma Stone will reprise her role as Gwen Stacy, but the actress is reportedly in negotiations.
