Twentieth Century Fox has released the first official image of Hugh Jackman in "The Wolverine" and it's got the interwebz abuzz.
The actor reportedly sought advice from Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson in order to bulk up for the role and you can see the fruits of his diet and exercise labor in the still below.
Jackman had the following to say about the tone of the film:
“With an all-new cast and setting it in Japan, it’s going to give us a whole new visual aesthetic.”
“The approach to character means we won’t be overloaded with mutants and teams and the like, so it’ll be more character-based. I think in many ways it will feel like a completely different X-Men film.”
Based on the celebrated comic book arc, "The Wolverine" finds Logan, the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel will clash with adamantium claw as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed.
James Mangold directs a cast that includes Hugh Jackman, Will Yun Lee, Khodchenkova, Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima and Brian Tee.
Look for "The Wolverine" in AMC Theatres on July 26, 2013.
