Are you a fan of Avengers, Angel, Buffy, Serenity, Firefly mastermind Joss Whedon? Are you also a fan of Romeo & Juliet, Julius Caesar, Hamlet, Othello mastermind William Shakespeare? Well then I've got just about the best movie news you're ever going to hear.

Once Whedon was done shooting THE AVENGERS, he very quietly shot a contemporary black and white version of the Shakespeare classic MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING at his house in Santa Monica in under 2 week and he cast a number actors he has a history with including Nathan Fillion, Amy Acker, Alexis Denisof, Clark Gregg, Reed Diamond and others.

The film is described as:

The film follows Claudio (Kranz) and Benedick (Denisof ) who have just returned home to Messina after a successful campaign abroad. When earnest Claudio announces his adoration for the lovely Hero (Morgese), daughter of Messina’s governor Leonato (Gregg), the acid-tongued Benedick teases him mercilessly. Benedick’s scorn for love is matched by that of his long-time nemesis and verbal sparring partner Beatrice (Acker), Leonato’s niece. As the lovestruck Claudio and Hero make plans to marry, Benedick and Beatrice resume the “merry war” of insults they have long waged. Yet there are many who believe that for all their antagonism — or even because of it — this pair of incessantly sniping cynics is surely meant to be a couple. As matchmaking schemes are put into play and disguises are donned, loathing and love soon prove to be close cousins.

MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING just premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and Lionsgate studio was quick to jump on it and picked up the North American distribution rights to the film. No word yet on when Lionsgate plans on releasing the film.

Fillion and Whedon together again… I still say we're going to see Fillion in AVENGERS 2 one way or the other.
