Rupert Wyatt May Exit DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

By AMC Theatres September 18, 2012

Director Rupert Wyatt may be exiting "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes".

Wyatt helmed the successful 2011 franchise reboot "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" and was expected to return with star Andy Serkis for the follow-up, bu the director has expressed reservations about the attempt to meet the Fox's May 23, 2014 release date.

Gary Ross also chose to depart from "The Hunger Games" sequel "Catching Fire" due to the rushed production schedule on the second film.

If Wyatt does indeed depart then Fox will need to secure a new director as quickly as possible if they are to stick to their schedule on the sequel which will feature the evolution of the apes dominion.

Meanwhile, Wyatt is attached to direct the Charlize Theron vehicle "Agent 13".

We will keep you updated as details emerge.
