George Clooney ("Good Night, and Good Luck") is set to direct his fifth film with the upcoming drama "The Monuments Men" and is amassing a power house cast.
Clooney himself will star alongside Daniel Craig, Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett, John Goodman, Hugh Bonneville, Bob Balaban and Jean Dujardin (who won a Best Actor Academy Award for "The Artist" last year against Clooney, who was nominated for "The Descendants").
The adaptation of Robert M. Edsel's novel "The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves, and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History" takes place during the final days of Nazi Germany as Adolf Hitler and the Nazis try to cover their tracks by destroying all the artwork they had stolen during their rise to power, as a group of art historians and museum curators try to rescue those works of art.
Clooney will direct from a script he penned with partner Grant Heslov. The longtime collaborators will also co-produce for Smokehouse (the company behind Ben Affleck's "Argo").
Production on the film is set to begin on March 1, 2013 in Europe.
