In what is surprising (to say the least) news on multiple levels Twitch is reporting that director Michael Bay may be looking at Mark Wahlberg to take the lead in the upcoming "Transformers 4".

It was recently reported that the film, which will likely be the last "Transformers" movie that Bay will helm, would potentially have a young female lead whose boyfriend is a Texas racecar driver. We imagine that Wahlberg would take on the role of said driver.

"Transformers 4" is currently in development and is working towards a June 27, 2014 release. Ehren Kruger's script is said to introduce a whole new team of robots and humans and venture into outer space.

Now, this is all highly speculative at this point, but Bay and Wahlberg did team-up on "Pain and Gain" recently, so it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility.

Michael Bay posted the following response on his own website:

"The Mark Wahlberg T4 rumor is just a rumor. Mark and I are talking about another film project."

Really like the look of it! The trailer has a menacing and dark tone to it, as LEE pointed out. Hopefully this won't be another Die Hard 5 case, awesome trailer but terrible film. Godzilla looks so much like it's 60 year old predecessor. I did like the 1999 Godzilla, just because the actors were awesome and it was cool to see another take on a legendary creature, but this film looks so much darker, almost forbidden. Can't wait till the middle of May!!
