Now that Michael Arndt is officially penning the script, eager fans are waiting for any and all updates pertaining to “Star Wars: Episode VII”. While we don’t have any news on who will helm the project other than the fact that Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino, Brad Bird and J.J. Abrams are out, we did receive a character update earlier today.
Lando Calrissian, who was portrayed by Billy Dee Williams in the films, will be making an appearance in the 7th installment as his character was included in Arndt’s 50-page treatment. The story takes place years after "Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi", so it makes sense that Calrissian would be included as his role was very important in the last film.
Known for his expensive taste, cool cat demeanor and leading the charge at the Battle of Endor to take down the Death Star, Calrissian was a big part of Han Solo’s life. While Calrissian did eventually sell Solo out to the Empire in an effort to save his Cloud City, he redeemed himself by saving him as well as his friends from Jabba the Hutt's fortress on Tatooine.
In an effort to not geek out anymore on the subject, let’s just say this news makes us happy.
