Last year, Nicholas Winding Refn and Ryan Gosling collaborated on the sleeper hit, “Drive”, an homage to classic action films of the past with a clever, steady pace and great cinematography. The two are reuniting this year for “Only God Forgives”, the revenge drama written and directed by Refn, which has already begun production in Bangkok.
Radius-TWC, a new label within The Weinstein Company devoted to multi-platform distribution is producing the film, which has been described as a modern western following a kickboxer-turned-gangster (Gosling) in Thailand who seeks revenge for the murder of his brother. The film co-stars Kristin Scott Thomas and Tom Burke.
A new black and white still has been released for the film, which shows Gosling heavily decorated in black and blue:
No release date has been locked yet but the film is said to be completed in the next month with a 2013 release in the works.
