Rumors continue to pour in following the announcement of Disney's historic purchase of Lucasfilm and plans to move forward with "Star Wars: Episode VII" for a 2015 release date.

Fans have been wondering if the new trilogy (based on an original concept) would include a return of Mark Hamill's Luke, Carrie Fisher's Leia and Harrison Ford's Han Solo. Hamill revealed that he and Fisher had met with George Lucas last summer about the storyteller's plans to move forward with a new "Star Wars" film and many have speculated that Lucas may have been laying the groundwork for a return of the original "Star Wars" cast with that meeting.

Of course, he may have just been keeping Hamill and Fisher in the loop.

It is now being reported that Harrison Ford is indeed open to the idea of reprising his role as Han Solo - something most moviegoers never thought that they would see. It begins to feel not only possible, but likely, that we will see the three original stars in, at the very least, cameo appearances in the new trilogy. Particularly as there are no plans to move forward with a new film in Ford's other Lucasfilm franchise, "Indiana Jones", at this time.

Meanwhile, in a studio known as Fox, director Matthew Vaughn chose not to return to the director's chair for "X-Men: Days of Future Past", the sequel to last summer's hit comic book movie "X-Men: First Class" ("X-Men" and "X2" director Bryan Singer is set to helm the film).

It is being rumored that Vaughn is, rather, in talks to helm "Star Wars: Episode VII".

This is pure speculation on our part, but we imagine that the choice of director will have a large impact on whether or not Ford, Hamill and Fisher do ultimately sign on to appear in the film.

What do you think? Would you like to see Matthew Vaughn direct the next "Star Wars" film?

Would you like to see the return of the original three?
