We found out earlier today that the hunt for a Harry Osborn for Marc Webb's sequel to "The Amazing Spider-Man" is over as Dane DeHaan ("Lawless" and "Chronicle") has snagged the role. The "Spider-Man" news keeps pouring in and it was also announced that Jamie Foxx is set to star as the villain Electro. Electro can control electricity and is known as one of Spider-Man's most well-known enemies. At this time, he is the only main villain announced but that very well could change as the story develops.
**Spoiler Alert: Spider-Man spoilers below!**
Shailene Woodley is also confirmed to play Mary Jane Watson, who was portrayed by Kirsten Dunst in Sam Raimi’s "Spider-Man" films. It's speculated at this time that Mary Jane’s role will not be very significant in the sequel and could develop into a larger role later in the franchise, when Gwen Stacy’s sad and symbolic death eventually occurs.
The main cast is returning to reprise their previous roles including Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-man and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy (for the time being, sigh). Webb is helming the film with a revised script draft penned by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Jeff Pinkner.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 swings to AMC Theatres on May 2nd 2014 and is set to begin shooting early next year.
