Yesterday fans of "The Hobbit" were surprised when a picture was released for not the second but third film in Peter Jackson's trilogy. Today that confusion can now subside as we have now received a picture for the second film "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug".

**SPOILERS--Synopsis of the 2nd film**

The Dwarfs, Bilbo and Gandalf have successfully escaped the misty mountains, but Bilbo has gained the one ring. They all continue their journey to get their gold back off the Dragon, Smaug.

Writer and Producer Philippa Boyens had to say this about the second film:

"The dragon is a huge, wonderful, amazing part of the story, but it doesn’t end there," said  Boyens. "Everyone can suspect there's a rather large battle in film three."

"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey hits AMC Theatres in 2D, 3D, and IMAX on December 14. "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" will be released on December 13, 2013, and closing out the trilogy will be "The Hobbit: There and Back Again", releasing on July 18, 2014.
