Matt Damon in Negotiations to Join Clooney's MONUMENTS MEN

By AMC December 5, 2012

Matt Damon is in talks to join the George Clooney-directed "The Monuments Men", a dramatic period piece set in the final days of the Second World War. Clooney and Grant Heslov ("Idea of March"), co-wrote the script which follows a crew of art historians and museum curators in an attempt to recover renown works of art that were stolen by the Nazis before being destroyed. The duo had previously worked together on "Good Night, Good Luck", where Heslov and Clooney co-wrote the story again while Clooney directed and starred in the film.

If Damon signs on, he will be joining a cast that already includes Daniel Craig, Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett, Jean Dujardin and John Goodman.

Production for the film is said to begin in January 2013 in Europe. We'll keep you posted as the story develops.
