Sequel Script in the Works for PACIFIC RIM

By AMC December 5, 2012

It’s always impressive when a film that has not even been released yet is given the green light for a sequel script. Such is the case for director Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming sci-fi flick "Pacific Rim". Penned by Travis Beacham, the film follows giant robots piloted by humans who are deployed to fight after an alien attack threatens Earth's existence.

Legendary Pictures picked up Beacham’s original script for "Pacific Rim" in 2010 and del Toro became attached quickly thereafter. Del Toro will be involved with the script writing for the sequel but at this time, it is not confirmed if he will also return to direct. As seen in his other projects such as "Pan's Labyrinth" and the "Hellboy" films, one might safely assume that the creatures in "Pacific Rim" will be awesome and highly intricate, from the extensive armory of del Toro's imagination.

"Pacific Rim" hits AMC Theatres on July 12th 2013 and stars Idris elba, Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi.
