Elijah Wood has come a long way from his days as a sweet and caring hobbit. He stars as a serial killer in the upcoming Franck Khalfoun film "Maniac". A new six-minute clip has been released for the film and although you can't even see his face, Wood is scary in it. The clip almost has a "Drive" feel due to the long, artful shots of the first person narrative from the driver's seat.
Based on William Lustig’s 1980 original, "Maniac" is one of the most anticipated horror films of the year due to positive reviews of terror from the Cannes Film Festival.
Just when the streets seemed safe, a serial killer with a fetish for scalps is back and on the hunt. Frank is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank's obsession escalates, it becomes clear that she has unleashed a long-repressed compulsion to stalk and kill.
"Maniac" released in the U.K. yesterday on 12/27 and will likely hit U.S. theatres in 2013.
