Mark Millar Has Confidence in Josh Trank's FANTASTIC FOUR Reboot

Practically no one knew who Josh Trank was a year ago. That changed in a big way when he brought the world "Chronicle", a small-budget film that quickly impressed audiences everywhere. The film was a fresh and unique approach to found-footage and superhero films, and put Trank on the map as a new director to watch.

When word first hit that Trank was going to be tackling the "Fantastic Four" reboot, that definitely got the attention of fans. After all, those who like the "Fantastic Four" comic book characters, will quickly say that it won't take much to be better than the 2005 version, starring Jessica Alba and Chris Evans.

Mark Millar, creative consultant on all Marvel movies for Fox, feels confident that Trank is going to do a stellar job with the "Fantastic Four" reboot. He states, "From what I’ve seen and from talking to him – he and I have had dinner a couple of times and we talk quite regularly as well – he’s contemporarising it," said Millar. "I think he’s just making it work for the screen – he’s a great storyteller."

Millar goes on to explain the similarities between Trank's "Chronicle" and the upcoming reboot, "CHRONICLE, if you think about it, was similar to Fantastic Four in that it was a bunch of people who were transformed into something more than human – that turned out almost his calling card to come and do something like FANTASTIC FOUR."

Millar seems to have great confidence is the direction and tone of the film that Trank is shaping. Millar explains, "What I wasn’t expecting actually was just how funny and likeable he could make this as well as getting the more awesome moments on screen – I use awesome in the traditional British sense and not the California sense awesome, you know? The Ridley Scott moments, and the Fantastic Four really are jaw-dropping in the same way you feel when you saw Alien for the first time. There’s some moments in this – not to be specific – that are actually gonna be phenomenal on screen and stuff you haven’t seen in a superhero movie before."

I've been really looking forward to the next Trank-directed film, since I thoroughly enjoyed "Chronicle" earlier this year. Millar has more than proven that he knows comics and how to present them as seen in"Kick-Ass" and "Wanted". So if he believes this reboot is in good shape, the optimist in me would like to believe it, too.

"The Fantastic Four" is slated to release in AMC Theatres on March 6th 2015.

I see one that's great enough to stand on his own in a flick and I see two generic Super Heroes below him played by descent actors that will suck of no fault of their own. DC Entertainment and Zack piss off Snyder have destroyed any chance of a good Superman flick. It's generic and badly delivered to screen. What a tragedy to finally get to see the big 3 on screen after all these years only to watch them in piss poor dark generic looking outfits and rewritten backgrounds. FAILURE! DC Entertainment needs to pull their heads out of their asses and give us something good besides Dark Knight and Batman. To my point GO MARVEL!!!!!! May we all be laughing at DC Comics in the end for playing this awful prank on the true fans.

Marvel has nothing to worry about. DC Entertainment has already killed Superman in this so called "Man of Steel" series of movies. Does anyone recall how the first one sucked? That movie in no way other then title had the tone of Superman. DC has shot themselves in the foot far before the release date against Marvel that knows how to build on charactors, respect them, and the fans. Before all this bull crap with revamping I was 100% behind DC Comics. They have proved one bad film over another that Batman is the only one in the JLA they can get right. This knockoff Superman is and was terrible! Wonder Woman will be just as bad or worse being that DC Comics likes to screw around with her origin and costume the most out of any DC charactor since creation. They simply just don't know what the heck they are doing or how to stay true to the roots of these heroes who have endured for 70 plus years. MOS2 may make it at the box office but mark my words it will not in any way be because it's a great flick. Just the hopefuls having to justify to themselves right and wrongs of the contents. It will suck! Line up for Captain America 3 and catch this flick in the red box.
