We really want the immortal words "I'll be back" to be true. There were a lot of ducks Annapurna Pictures had to line up, before a new "Terminator" film could come to fruition. A fifth film in the installment looks like it might actually happen now, as screenwriters have just been hired to pen the script. Fingers and toes crossed that it will include Arnold Schwarzenegger, in some capacity.
Laeta Kalogridis, known for her writing credits on Scorsese's "Shutter Island" and "Alexander", has been hired as one part of the writing team duo. This seems like a logical enough fit, since she was the executive producer on "Avatar", so already has a connection with James Cameron. The surprise however, comes in the form of Patrick Lussier, who's most notable credits include "My Bloody Valentine" and "Dracula 2000". I suppose we'll give this news the benefit of the doubt, in honor of our immense excitement for a new "Terminator" film.
Megan Ellison and Annapurna Pictures have fought with dedication and persistence to come this far with "Terminator", so let's just hope they know what they're doing. We certainly don't want another "Terminator: Salvation" situation on our hands, now do we.
