Elizabeth Olsen, known for her roles in the controversial "Martha Marcy May Marlene" and the thriller "Silent House", has confirmed her involvement in the "Godzilla" reboot. The film is being helmed by Gareth Edwards, and is also said to star Bryan Cranston and Aaron Johnson, though that has not been officially confirmed yet.
On the tone of the film, Olsen states, "It's definitely not lighthearted. It's kind of going back to its roots of the original Japanese film." Taking a break from the spoofy take on "Godzilla", sounds like just what the Doctor ordered.
The original 1954 Japanese version was directed by Ishirô Honda and the Godzilla character (originally Gojira) was said to serve as a metaphor for nuclear weapons. Despite the campy and almost comical nature that the previous sequel and reboots encompassd, the original vision was more somber and dark, so it will be nice to see Edwards try to emulate that.
