Hugh Laurie Set as Antagonist in Brad Bird's TOMORROWLAND

By AMC February 15, 2013

Brad Bird, known for directing the gem "The Incredibles" and "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol", is back at it again with the sci-fi flick, "Tomorrowland". The film was penned by Damon Lindelof and George Clooney is locked to star. It has now been reported that House's Hugh Laurie, is in talks to "serve as the movie's antagonist".

No further details have been released regarding who the antagonist of the film is or what Laurie's role will be. He played a sarcastic, strong and unconventional character on House, so the role of an antagonist does not feel like a stretch for him.

The film details have also remained fairly locked, but it has been speculated that it will deal with UFO's and extraterrestrial life. Disney historian Jim Hill states that "Tomorrowland" will discuss Walt Disney's involvement with a project called Project Blue Book, which informed the public of the existence of UFO's. That is purely just a theory on Hill's part to date but given that we know the film is based on Lindelof's research of the contents of the 1952 box, it does seem fitting.

Do you think Laurie will make a good villain in "Tomorrowland"? Let us know in the comments section below!

"Tomorrowland" hits AMC Theatres on December 19th 2014.
