Josh Trank's FANTASTIC FOUR Reboot Gets New Screenwriter

By AMC Theatres February 27, 2013

"Chronicle" director Josh Trank's "Fantastic Four" reboot is making moves. It has been reported that the wonderful Matthew Vaughn, who directed such gems as "X-Men: First Class" and "Kick-Ass", is signed on to produce.

Now it has been announced that Seth Grahame-Smith is rewriting the script, which was previously penned my Jeremy Slater. Check out the official announcement below:

"Author and screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith has done polish screenwriting work on Fox’s reboot of Fantastic Four, which Josh Trank is directing.

Sources say that the new reboot is taking a grounded superhero and sci-fi approach to the heroes and will tap deep into the comics mythology, which featured not just the better-known villains such as Doctor Doom and Galactus but also alien races the Kree and the Skrull, and the anti-matter universe known as the Negative Zone."

Trank's "Chronicle" pleasantly surprised audiences everywhere, and the $12 million budget film went on to gross almost $65 million. Trank's fresh approach to filmmaking with the guidance of Vaughn, should hopefully give fans of the "Fantastic Four" franchise a film worthy of its badass characters. Only time will tell but we're cautiously optimistic and like the steps Fox is taking to help ensure its success.

The "Fantastic Four" reboot hits AMC Theatres on March 6th 2015.
