Kathleen Kennedy is trading dinosaurs for lightsabers. After taking over as President of Lucasfilms last year, Kennedy certainly has her hands full. With new "Star Wars" films on the horizon as well as more "Jurassic Park" films in the works, apparently something had to give.
In response to a question on Twitter pertaining to Kennedy producing "Jurassic Park 4", her director/producer husband, Frank Marshall, stated, "No, Ms. Kennedy has moved onto Star Wars and will not be producing JP4. She's traded raptors for TIE fighters."
The duo launched the Kennedy/Marshall Company in 1992 and Kennedy was a producer on all three "Jurassic Park" films. Will this new film suffer with Kennedy's absence?
The script for "Jurassic Park 4" was penned by "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" scribes, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. Steven Spielberg is producing the new dino film but no director is currently locked.
In the world of space however, Michael Arndt, who penned the scripts for "Toy Story 3" and "Little Miss Sunshine", is writing the script for "Star Wars: Episode VII". And of course fan favorite, J.J. Abrams, is set to helm.
Do you think Kathleen Kennedy made the right decision or do you think she should have stayed on as a producer for both films? Let us know in the comments section below!
